Best of 2016 Beauty Discoveries

Oh hey! Long time no beauty blog. But I want to get back into it, so to begin 2017 I'm going to go through all of my best discoveries of 2016. So instead of my 2016 'favourites', I'm going to go through the best stuff that were completely new to me. Best of all, everything here is cruelty free, yaaay!

Mario Badescu Ginseng Moist Cream This is the moisturiser that I've been using in my morning and night time routine. It's a soft and light consistency, yet it leaves my skin feeling so incredibly hydrated and glowy. I don't often notice a difference with my skin after using a moisturiser, but with this one I do, my skin is left feeling velvety soft and it also makes a great base for make up.

Mario Badescu Facial Spray OH I love this so much. I use this every morning before I do my make up, and I also use it to set my make up on a daily basis. It has the perfect mister, so it doesn't spit at your face and leave super wet patches anywhere. It's soothing and hydrating, and smells gorgeous. I wish it came in a smaller bottle so I could carry it in my bag so I can spritz on the go.

Milani Conceal + Perfect Foundation I was never one for full coverage foundation until I tried out this offering from Milani. It's quite a thick consistency but it blends out beautifully with either a brush or a beauty blender, it lasts for a good 8 hours before I notice it breaking up around my nose and chin. It's not overly dewy but it's not too matte, either, it's a perfect in the middle foundation.

EX1 Invisiwear Compact Powder This powder is incredible! It lives in my hand bag and I touch it up with it a good few times throughout the day and it never, ever leaves my skin looking cakey or dry I can literally pack this stuff on and it will never be too much, it's magic, magic I say! A few days ago I actually used this on its own with no foundation under, and it actually did a decent job at covering and evening out my skin tone.

NYX Angel Veil Primer I wasn't sure if I liked this primer when I first got it, but the more I used it the more I realised how good it was. It glides over the skin and make up just glides right over it. It fills in pores without leaving the pores becoming congested, huge thumbs up for that. My base just lasts a lot longer when I use this.

LA Girl Pro Conceal I'm just going to say if you are looking for a new, affordable, high coverage, creamy concealer then look no further. I carry one in my bag too for touch ups as I can just rely on it to do the job.

Becca Under Eye Brightening Corrector Sometimes I do not get enough sleep so I wake up looking like a panda, and that's when this saviour comes to my rescue. I dab a small amount after I apply primer and before I apply foundation and concealer, and it instantly brightens and corrects the darkness and discolouration in my under eye area. It's a very creamy consistency so I do prefer to use this with my finger as the warmth from my finger helps it to blend into the skin a lot easier than a brush.

Makeup Revolution Shimmer Brick in Radiant Best. Affordable. Highlighter. Ever. This looks stunning on the cheek bones and inner corner of my eyes, I literally use this every single day, I cannot be without it! It has five different colours in it but I just mix all of them and it creates the most stunning golden champagne shade which suits my skin tone so well. Best of all, it's £3... I cry.

Essence All About Nudes Eyeshadow Oh, my. This £4 eyeshadow palette is incredible. And that bottom right corner shade, guuurl, I didn't capture it very well but it is a stunning glittery, taupe shade, right up my street. These blend really well, the mattes are gorgeous, the sheeny shades are stunning, it's all around an incredible palette. I also picked up the Rose one which is equally as stunning.

Essence Matt Touch Blush in Berry Me Up! I pretty much wore this blush for a month straight. It is the most perfect pink flush shade which looks so natural. It goes with every look, it's easy to blend and as it's matte, it lasts all day.

Kiko Extra Sculpt Mascara I have KathleenLights to thank for this discovery. This is the best mascara I have ever used in my entire life. It gives my barely there lashes so much volume and so much length without leaving them clumpy. It doesn't flake, it's super black and it's often on sale, and when it is, I stock up. I would say this is a close dupe to Too Faced Better Than Sex.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Definer Best brow product. It literally takes 30 seconds for me to do each brow now because of this beautiful product. It has a triangler nib which makes it so easy for me to fill in my brows and get the arch and front of brow just right.

Arrow Boost Colour Enhancing Lip Balm This lives in my hand bag as it the perfect thing to throw on when I need to moisturise my lips but I also want to add a bit of colour. It's colour enhancing (think Dior Lip Glow, but a fraction of the price) so it leaves the lips with the perfect pink shade. It also smells minty, yum.

3ina Cream Eyeshadow in 313 First of all, if you are OCD or just like things to be organised in the most aesthetically pleasing way possible then you must visit the Mina store in Covent Garden, it's like make up heaven in there. Second of all, if you want a gorgeous, bronze, metallic shadow that will last ALL DAY then get this, and you are welcome.

3ina The Essential Lip Pencil I have finally found the perfect red lip pencil, this is creamy enough that it is easy to glide onto the lips but it isn't too creamy where it just slips and slides and I end up looking like the joker. It's the perfect red and goes with all my red lipsticks, it lasts all day and it looks stunning on its own.

(L-R) Wink, November, Calypso and Brink

Colourpop Ultra Satin Lips These are some of the best lip products I have ever used. They are so highly pigmented, they are so incredibly long lasting and are such a pleasure to wear as they are so comfortable.

Colourpop Lippie Stick in Brink I started getting into nude lipsticks a lot this year, and I think Brink is my perfect nude. It's a matte formula but again it so creamy and comfortable that you almost forget that it's there. For some reason, it makes my lips look extra plump, I don't know but I am not complaining.

(L-R) Glitterati, So Quiche, KathleenLights and Nillionaire
Favourite shade: Nillonaire

Colourpop Super Shock Shadow Ahhhh, finally I was able to get my hands on these cult favourites from Colourpop. These have possibly the most strangest formulas and consistencies I have ever come across in an eyeshadow. They're bouncy, creamy, glittery but still pigmented. How? Just how? They are just stunning and I am so glad I can start building my collection. I will say though that these are best applied with fingers as opposed to a brush.

Colourpop Super Shock Cheek in Wisp The custom charges I had to pay for this Colourpop was worth it for this highlighter alone. This has a similar consistency to the shadows, but it has no glitter in it from what I can see. It just adds the most perfect (blinding) champagne sheen and glow to the cheek bones. It performs as if it were a high end product, very impressed, very impressed indeed.

(L-R) Taupe Notch, Sepia, Natural Linen

H&M Nail Polishes These may just be my favourite nail polishes (next to Barry M Gelly). I seriously didn't expect much from H&M so I was pleasantly surprised when I discovered that these are incredible opaque, creamy and so long lasting (we're talking 10 days with no chips). The colour range is gorgeous and they have some unique shades too which I do appreciate.

 FAIL

Nars Weightless Luminous Foundation I so wanted to love this foundation, I really did but I HATE IT. Ahem. It just sucks. It hurts me to say that but oh my god this is so bad. It blends into the skin so easily and the skin initially looks lovely, luminous, there's good coverage. But. And this is a big but(t). It just does not set, it transfers, it makes the skin so oily throughout the day, it slips and slides, it breaks up within an hour of wear. I can't believe how disappointing this product was, especially after all the hype this received. Ugh. Just UGH.

So 2016 is finally frigging over. What a year, huh? My health was like a play station cheat code, up, down, left, right, down, up, down, down, down, up, down. Wow. Just wow, I can't believe I made it out of 2016 to be honest. We lost a lot of legends, there is still a horrific war going on, Trump is president (God help us all) and Brexit. But hey look at all the new awesome make up I discovered... I know to some it may seem so trivial and ignorant to blog about make up, but it truly makes me very happy. I can sit and spend hours on my make up, it's therapeutic, it's relaxing and it's art. Apart form that Nars foundation, that was just hideous. But anyway, here we are, we're in 2017 and there is more make up to discover. If you made it to the end of this post, thank you! Here is a bun. She was sat by me while I took all my blog photos hehe.
