June 2014 Birchbox

I've been wanting to try out a beauty subscription box for a while now so I thought I'd go ahead and try out Birchbox. I was hoping to get a beauty blender which I knew was in the June box, but unfortunately I didn't get it, but I guess that's part of the game of a subscription box.

What I Got For Christmas 2013

Well, Christmas is over, boo, but I had a very lovely day. And I received some very lovely gifts so I thought I'd share them today (plus as this is like my online diary, it's nice to be able to look back and remember).

November Newbies

It's nearing to the end of November so I thought I'd round up the bits and bats I've bought throughout the month.

Nude Nails

On the first day of Autumn I decided to do my nails to go with the transition from Summer to Autumn. I didn't want to go for a dark colour right away but just something in the middle so I opted for nude nails with a gold accent.

Pink Glitter Polishes

I love pink. I love glitter. I love nail polish. So pink, glitter nail polishes are right up my street, here are three in my humble collection of polishes.

Gettin' Miss Piggy With It

Sometimes you just fancy tacky, red, glitter nails. But is it so tacky when it's OPI? It's not, right? ... Right?
Oh well, either way I love this polish. it consists of red glitter particles and then large chunks of silver and red glitter. I, like a fool, did not put a base colour on which would have been the best option, so what you see is five coats of this. Yes, five. But glitter dries basically instantly, so it's okay...she tries to justify.

This lovely polish is from the Muppets for OPI Collection which was released for the Holiday Collection back in 2011.

Hope everyone is doing well!

Favourite Nail Polishes

I have quite a nice collection of nail polishes, but if I absolutely had to choose my favourites then the following would be the pick of the bunch.

OPI - Golden Eye and Teenage Dream

Chanel - Peridot

LA Colours - Wired and Hot Blooded

Essie: To Buy Or Not To Buy, Muchi Muchi and Ballet Slippers

Barry M - Grey and Blueberry Ice Cream

Of course there are more polishes that I adore, but if I could only take a limited amount with me to a desert island these would be the lucky ones.

Hope everyone is having a lovely day!

Hand and Nail Care

I love doing my nails so in order to ensure they always look their best, I have a certain nail care routine.

Once or twice a month I will buff my nails using this Superdrug Nail Buffer - buffing your nails strengthens them and brings up the natural oils to the surface of the nail, leaving a clean nail ready for polish. I file my nails twice or sometimes three times a week as my nails grow pretty quickly so they need filing down so I have a nice shape and I don't have crazy long nails. Filing also helps with prevention of the breaking and splitting of the nails. The nail filer I am using at the moment is one from Ciate. If my cuticles are looking a bit rough, I use Sally Hansen Problem Cuticle Remover to get rid of any pesky hang nails and dry skin.

For a base coat I use OPI's Nail Envy which is amazing. It helps strengthens nails and helps them grow. I have naturally strong nails and I have a long nail bed, but using Nail Envy helps my nails keep their strength. After I apply my polish and my nails have dried I use Ever Since Mineral Cuticle Oil which moisturises the cuticles. I recently got L'Occitane Shea Butter and I use this on my cuticles whenever I feel like they need a little more TLC, and I am loving this.

To moisturise my hands during the day I use my beloved Soap and Glory Hand Food which I also use on my cuticles. At night I use Garnier Nourishing Hand Cream - I like this cream, it's not too heavy but I feel it doesn't moisturise my hands as well as Hand Food but it's fine for night time.

And finally (we're nearly there) I use Cutex Moisture Guard Nail Polish Remover to get rid of my nail polish - it has acetone in it which isn't the best thing for your nails but it removes polish so much more quicker.

So there we go, my complete hand and nail care routine.

I hope everyone is having a good weekend :)

Bond Nails

You know when you paint your nails and you just can't stop looking down and staring at them? Yup, well that's how it is for me and my nails right now. I recently got my hands on Golden Eye and The Living Daylights from the James Bond collection for OPI and I knew from one look at the bottles that I was going to love them, and I do.

Golden Eye is just the most stunning gold, glittery colour ever! I have two coats on and oh my gosh, I just find it so stunning. It's one of the best gold polishes I have ever seen, kudos to you, OPI. The Living Daylights is also an absolutely gorgeous glitter polish, it consists of large chunks of green, silver and copper glitter and it looks beautiful combined with Golden Eye and I know it will look beautiful with other colours.

Before I apply nail polish, I always put on a base coat, and the one I am using at the moment is my mini Nail Envy by OPI. For my cuticles, I use a mineral oil by Ever Since, I really like this oil and not just because it smells like almonds...

Okay so that is all for today and my ramblings on about gold and glittery nails (which I will most probably wear on New Years Eve!). I hope everyone is having a good weekend!

Well, it's safe to say I had a lovely and hectic Christmas. Screaming when I opened my unexpected present from my mum at 3am (sorry neighbours and granddad), Christmas dinner at 11.30pm, eating a butt load of chocolate (mmm Ferrero Rocher...), nearly getting stabbed in the hand by my best friend while we were cutting vegetables were all just a small chunk out of my day.

Here are a few photos of the presents I received this year, I am so so happy with everything and I just want to say a huge thank you to everyone. I am so grateful for the amazing people I have around me. I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas - and I hope you all get some amazing deals today!

Christmas Gift Guide - Beauty Edition

Hey guys, so for this post I decided to do a Christmas gift guide. It's a good price range so there's something for everyone! And a few (all) of these items are on my wish list... ahem. :)

Lancome Miniature Fragrance Set - £20.40
This is a lovely set of five mini Lancome perfumes. I think this is the fun alternative route of giving someone a perfume or perfume gift set for Christmas. It gives the person a variety and a chance to try out some new perfumes if they haven't already tried them out before.

Soap and Glory Small Wonders Mini Hat Box - £10
I love, love, love Soap and Glory and I think this is such a nice gift to give someone to introduce them to Soap and Glory. There's a bit of everything and for only £10 I think it's a bargain.

Diptyque Figuier Scented Candle - £38
(Not really beauty but it smells great!) Getting someone a luxurious candle to a candle lover would just make their day, and Diptyque is one of the most well known luxurious brands that offer the most beautiful candles. I would love to find this under the tree.

OPI Bond-ettes Mini Set - £12.50
You cannot go wrong with nail polish and you can't go wrong with OPI, especially a cute mini set! I have a few mini sets and I love them, and I wouldn't mind adding this set to my (large) collection of nail polishes. This is one of OPI's newest collections and the colours are gorgeous!

I think this is a lovely gift for someone who loves yummy shower gels and someone who already loves the brand or someone who is yet to be introduced to it.

Origins Christmas Bauble - £6
I think this is such a cute idea! I would absolutely love this to be hanging on my tree, this cute little thing includes a set of Origins best selling products in travel sizes. It's a great way to introduce someone to the brand and skin care.

I hope this helps! Happy shopping, oh, and remember, there is no harm in getting any of this stuff for yourself :)

    Manicure Monday: Red Royalty

My dear friend Marta gave me Dior's polish in Red Royalty, it's such a beautiful colour! I'm only wearing one coat, yes one coat. The lighting (bathroom lighting, heh) makes the red look lighter than what the colour actually is which is a shame, but it's a deep red, so pretty. I don't usually like red nail polish on me, but blood reds and royal reds I like. On the accent nail, I put on a coat of OPI's Gettin' Miss Jiggy With It (God, I love that name) and this polish is from the Muppets Collection.

    Have a good week!
