Glossier Review

I have been dabbling into the world of Glossier (referral link which will get you 10% off) since September and I have some thoughts about this obvious future cult brand which has taken the beauty industry by storm.

What I love about Glossier is their stripped back approach to skincare and make up, they have a very effortless, cool girl feel about them which I just want to be part of. It seems Glossier is not just a beauty brand but almost a lifestyle? Their motto 'Skin first. Makeup second. Smile always.' is so simple yet so ... cool? idk if I could marry a brand, I think it'd be Glossier. So onto the products I have had the pleasure of trying. Working in the beauty industry has opened my eyes to a lot of things, so in this review I will be pulling out some key ingredients I think are worth talking about as as the efficacy of products and where the company pool their money into interests me. I feel Glossier is a great example of a brand that uses good quality ingredients, what their packaging lacks in the wow factor (no hate, I actually love the packaging), their ingredients make up for.

Milky Jelly Cleanser - I frigging love this cleanser. As the name would suggest, it has a milky gel like consistency which cleanses the skin so well. It leaves my skin feeling so clean, soft, smooth and plump. It balances the pH balances of the skin and I feel like I can support this claim as my skin is never left feeling stripped and dry or oily. It also contains aquaxyl which helps boost the skin's hydration flow. It's a water binding ingredient which helps improve the skins layers and barrier, allowing more hydration in. The cleanser also contains rose water which my skin loves and appreciates. When I use this cleanser I noticeably see a difference in my skin, it looks healthier, clear from breakouts, plump and healthy. If you try one thing from Glossier, I say go for the cleanser.

Priming Moisturiser - Another absolute favourite from Glossier. I use this as my primer, so after my entire skincare routine in the mornings. I find this create such a lovely smooth, plump, hydrated canvas for my base products. My makeup lasts so well on top of this moisturiser, that for almost two months straight I didn't reach for any other primer. So the first good ingredient is hyaluronic acid which we all know is our skin's best hydrating friend (after 2L water a day of course). But two interesting ingredients are a Mushroom Super Hydrator, which is a plant based hydrating agent; and an Oxygenating Agent which supposedly helps improve skin texture by supplying oxygen to the skin cells. Not sure how that one works, but since using this moisturiser and the cleanser, my skin's texture has never been better. So I'm going to say, yeah sure I believe ya!

Balm Dot Com - I have both Rose and Birthday scents and gosh, I adore. These universal balms are fantastic for sore, chapped lips and even dry, chapped skin (e.g. around the nose after a very nasty cold). These balms also contain castor seed oil (like the oil you put onto lashes to help them grow), and this too contains water binding properties. So you're not just coating your lips and creating a barrier, Balm Dot Com actually keeps the moisture in. I love the two scents that I have and the Birthday one tastes great - not that I recommend you consume it, but just saying.

Haloscope - If you're looking for a natural, glowing from within highlighter then I'd say maybe give this a go. I haven't played around with this too much as I prefer a more intense powder highlight. But I will say I have used this on no make up days and I have loved the effect it provided. It's a very effortless glow, but it does add a little somet somet to the skin. One of the ingredients that baffles me is Rose Quartz - I can't say much about the efficacy benefits of this except it's quite a cool ingredient?

Lip Gloss - So I haven't really played around with this too much as it's just too gosh darn windy, okay? But I feel like I'll get a lot more use out of this in Spring Summer. But bottom line, this is a very glossy but not glittery gloss. Almost sticky but moisturising enough I can forgive it, thanks to the Vitamin E. I love the applicator, its a fuzzy fat doe foot which glides satisfyingly over the lips.

Stretch Concealer - If you like full coverage concealers then stay away from this little pot. This concealer is designed for those who are blessed with already good skin and just need a little bit of help. I use this on my under eyes (in the shade medium which beautifully brightens) when I've had a solid 8 hours sleep and don't need too much help. It's quite a soft, almost buttery smooth texture and it just glides and blends into the skin so well (good job, cocoa butter). I saw on Glossier's IG stories a MUA using this all over her skin and I was inspired and gave it a go. I liked the effect, it just made my skin a bit more even and added a subtle dewy glow (due to the avocado and jojoba oil).

Mask Duo - Now these products are the only ones I'm currently on the fence about. The Mega Greens Galaxy Mask Moisturising Moon Mask are made to be used together to help reset the skin. I tried the duo on a meh skin day and unfortunately didn't see too much of a difference. The Mega Greens has a white kaolin clay base which helps detoxify and help dig out impurities, while Moon has honey, aloe and squalane which all essentially help to hydrate the skin. I really like the idea of this mask duo, and the ingredients are clearly well thought through but I do need to give these both a few more goes as I'm still not sure if I think this duo is worth it.

Super Bounce - The main ingredients in this concentrated serum are hyaluronic acid which as mentioned is a super hydrator and Vitamin B5. It leaves the skin feeling plump and bouncy, hence the name Super Bounce. I do like this serum, however I think it's a little pricey for the amount you get (£24 for 15ml) as you can get The Ordinary's Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 30ml for £6. The packaging is super cute however, but the pipet is slightly annoying as it doesn't dispense out product properly.

I hope this was helpful, I of course got all ingredient lists from Glossier's website. It's nice that they break everything down for you but it is important to do your own research into ingredients and suss out whether they would benefit your skin needs or not.

Bottom line: I'm pretty much in love with Glossier. From the pink pouches and stickers to the efficacious formulas. This brand is one to definitely look into whether you're a beauty novice or a hardcore beauty fan, there's definitely something for everyone.

On my wish list: Moisturising Rich. Invisible Shield. More Balm Dot Coms. Cloud Paints. Boy Brow.
